Apple iPhone 5 tipped to boost global smartphone market (Gartner)
The launch of an Apple iPhone 5 is widely tipped to take place later this year and the research firm Gartner expects to see that introduction provide the global smartphone market with a significant boost.




Samsung has seen impressively strong sales of its latest Galaxy S smartphone offering since its launch in late May and Android smartphones in general are continuing to sell extremely well worldwide.
The Windows 7.5 version of Samsung’s Omnia M mobile phone has officially been made available to consumers around the UK. Phones4U is to be the sole retailer offering the devices for the first few months after its introduction on August 1st.
Samsung has seen sales of its Galaxy S3 smartphone devices pass the 10 million mark on a global basis within just a few months of its release. The achievement matched the expectations that the Korean company had for its enormously popular device prior to its introduction.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone has been withdrawn from sale in the US following developments in a court case relating to alleged patent infringements brought by the consumer technology giant Apple.

Samsung has said it expects to see its latest Galaxy smartphone sell more quickly on a worldwide basis than any of its previous mobile handsets, including the hugely popular Galaxy S2. The head of the company’s mobile division spoke recently about the prospects for its smartphone operation this year and said he expects to see as many as ten million Galaxy S3s sold globally in July 2012 alone.
