Apple iPad 2 and iPad media tablet sales on the march
Sales of the Apple iPad 2 and the third iPad media tablet that followed it on to worldwide markets saw a significant sales surge in the second quarter of 2012. According to the latest data on the subject from IHS iSuppli, Apple was able to reassert its dominance of the tablet sector during the period after having seen its market share eroded throughout much of the previous year.




Users of Apple MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs are among those to have rushed to download the newly released OS X Mountain Lion operating system in recent days. According to Apple, there have been as many as three million downloads of the new system for Mac users undertaken within just a few days of it being made available.
Sales of tablet computers and the iPad from Apple are tipped to continue growing strongly over the coming quarters as demand for the products remains high worldwide.
Apple has officially launched the newest version of the operating system for its range of Mac computers, including the MacBook Airs that have proven popular since their introduction back in 2008.
Apple sold more iPads in the three months to the end of June 2012 than in any other comparable period, according to the company’s latest financial statements. There were some 17 million of the sector-defining tablet computers sold in the period, which represents an increase of almost 84 percent on the same quarter in 2012.
The third iteration of the iPad Apple has been made available in the Chinese cities of Beijing and Shanghai. In contrast to some of its most recent product launch events for updated iPads and iPhones, the introduction of the company’s latest tablet computer was very much a low key affair.
Qantas, Australia’s largest domestic and international airline, has announced its plan to offer its passengers an Apple iPad by way of entertainment during their journeys.
