US Teens Use Smart Phones for Cheating

phone cheat US Teens Use Smart Phones for Cheating at techunicorn.co.ukA recent study has revealed that US teens use smart phones and internet to cheat in examinations. The study was released on Thursday and according to it, more than half of the teens surveyed for a Common Sense Media poll indulge in cheating in exams using smart phones in one way or the other. The study says that more than a third of students with mobile telephones said they had used smart phones to cheat.

Approximately 65 percent of all teens surveyed said they had heard or seen other students using mobile telephones to cheat at school. Smart phones have, no doubt, made life easier and it has enabled us to do our daily chores on time and comfortably. However, like every technology, smart phones are also being used for evil causes. “This poll shows the unintended consequence of these versatile technologies is that they’ve made cheating easier,” the study concluded. It further added, “Digital life, by its nature, is distant, hard to track, and often anonymous, which can diminish the impact of action and consequences.” Cheating tactics include storing notes on mobile telephones for reference during exams and exchanging text messages about answers while taking tests. Some students also search for answers on the internet while other send pictures of the question paper to their buddies scheduled to take the exams on the same day at a different time.

About 36 percent of students said that plagiarizing from the Internet for school assignments was not a serious offense, and a fifth of teens polled did not consider it cheating. Only about a half of the students surveyed considered mobile telephone or Internet cheating “serious offenses”.

“Perhaps because they don’t realize just how widespread cell phone use in schools is, parents aren’t clamoring for stricter cell phone policies in school,” the study surmised.

You Don’t Need Geeky Glasses to Watch 3D Anymore

3d technology You Dont Need Geeky Glasses to Watch 3D Anymore at techunicorn.co.uk

People have to wear those ugly, geeky and disgusting Glasses to enjoy watching 3D videos. I have always hated those glasses and I am sure you have too. But worry no more, European researchers are developing a technology that enables 3DTV which does not require wearing glasses.

Soon you will be able to enjoy full 3D effects in Videos just using your naked eye. The first applications of the new technology are likely to be the fields of industry and science but there is a lot of potential in it and it will surely revolutionise the way we watch movies or play video games. With this new technology, there is no need no need for the special glasses in cinemas or having to adjust your head into specific positions to get the 3D effect, as with a holographic image. Two EU-funded projects, firstly HOLOVISION and then its successor OSIRIS have been able to perform this breakthrough. Ákos Demeter of Holografika, a partner in both projects, explains that in the first one the primary aim was to develop technologies capable of producing a very high-resolution 3D image. He said, “We basically organised projection engines in a special way and used holographic imaging film for the display screen. The combination of these, with the projection engines being driven by a cluster of nine high-end PCs, and new sophisticated software, allowed us to achieve our aims.”

A 100Mpixel Prototype, running at 25 frames a second in six colours, was produced and its resolution was increased three fold to virtually 300Mpixel by using greyscales instead of colours. This prototype is yet to be produced commercially but it was good enough for the HOLOVISION and OSIRIS projects to get them Best Exhibit Award silver prize at the ICT 2008 exhibition in Lyon.
